Who We Help: Organizations and Programs

Assistive technology strategy and implementation for organizations and programs

We plan, set up, and support assistive and enabling technology across your program, so the people you serve can do more of what matters, from daily routines to recreation. You keep ownership of staffing, policies, and decisions.

  • In business since 2015
  • Nationwide assistive technology provider
  • Medicaid waiver provider in Missouri, Oklahoma, and Colorado
  • TRICARE-authorized non-network provider
  • Registered in SAM.gov

What program leaders weigh

Program-level technology decisions look different

A family asks if a device fits one person. Your program asks if it fits dozens of plans, every shift, and your security review.

The challenge

Fragmented technology

Devices, apps, and portals pile up one purchase at a time. No one sees the full picture.

How GMA helps

We review what is in use and recommend a smaller, supported set tied to each plan.

The challenge

Individualizing at scale

Every person’s supports differ, but hand-building every setup does not scale.

How GMA helps

A repeatable setup process, configured person by person.

Enabling technology →
The challenge

Staff adoption

Turnover and shift schedules mean a tool is only as useful as the training behind it.

How GMA helps

Training for leaders, supervisors, and direct support staff, with refreshers as teams change.

The challenge

Vendor approvals

Purchasing, contracting, and security questionnaires take time.

How GMA helps

Specific answers and documentation for procurement and security review.

The challenge

Alert volume

An alert for every data point overwhelms staff.

How GMA helps

Alert routing set to your procedures, so ownership is clear. Not every data point becomes an alert.

Remote support technology →
The challenge

Privacy and dignity

Technology has to respect autonomy, consent, and privacy.

How GMA helps

Setup follows consent, individual plans, and minimum-necessary access.

How the pieces fit

  • Equipment and assistive technologyAssistive technology, adaptive equipment, and medical equipment, matched to each plan.
  • Enabling technology and MyCompassEnabling and remote support technology, with the MyCompass System only where it fits.
  • Configuration and implementationSet up for each person and each site, with a repeatable approach.
  • TrainingFor leaders, supervisors, direct support staff, and the people using the tools. Refreshers as teams change.
  • Ongoing support and reviewCheck-ins, adjustments as needs change, and a direct line to GMA.

Choose the layers you need. MyCompass is not required to work with GMA.

Illustrative examples

How organizational engagements can take shape

Common situations, not specific clients or results.

Illustrative · Growing program

Consolidating technology across a growing program

A community provider that added services and sites over several years.

  1. GoalKnow what is in use and set one approach for new deployments.
  2. ChallengeTeams bought devices and apps at different times, with no shared inventory.
  3. ApproachGMA reviews current tools with your leaders and recommends a smaller, better-supported set tied to individual plans.
  4. BenefitA clear picture of what is deployed and a repeatable process.
Implementation considerations

Transition timing, staff retraining, and each person’s preferences when a familiar device is replaced.

Illustrative · Defined pilot

Starting with a defined pilot

An organization interested in remote support technology but cautious about a program-wide commitment.

  1. GoalTest fit with a small group and one or two teams first.
  2. ChallengeLeaders want evidence from their own operations, not general promises.
  3. ApproachAgree on scope: participants who chose to take part, sites, staff roles, setup, training, and the questions to answer.
  4. BenefitA decision based on your own experience.
Implementation considerations

Consent, plan alignment, who reviews alerts, how feedback is gathered, and what happens when the pilot ends.

Illustrative · Security review

Supporting a security and governance review

A program whose IT, privacy, and compliance staff must approve new connected technology.

  1. GoalGive reviewers what they need to judge the technology on its merits.
  2. ChallengeReviewers need specifics on data handling, access control, and roles.
  3. ApproachReviewers request assurance materials through the organizational contact form and read the MyCompass security information. GMA answers follow-ups directly.
  4. BenefitA review grounded in documentation, with fewer surprises after approval.
Implementation considerations

Matching roles and access to your policies, and writing down who can see what.

The GMA MyCompass System

When Command Center and the MyCompass System make sense

A connected ecosystem developed by GMA. Each experience serves a different role. See the MyCompass experiences.

  • MyCompass is the person-facing experience. Nora acts as a companion.

  • CompassCare is for families and authorized caregivers, with simple summaries from Nora.

  • CompassCare Command Center is the organizational view. Depending on configuration, it can support multi-person, multi-location workflows.

  • Nora Caregiver Intelligence is AI-assisted and works within defined permissions. It informs staff judgment and does not make decisions.

  • Contactless sensing. No camera monitoring.
  • Not every data point becomes an alert
  • iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and web

Available now, set up person by person, never program-wide:

  • Fall-related notifications give designated staff awareness of a possible fall. They do not prevent falls.
  • Location awareness and geofencing, only where a person’s plan and authorization call for it.

Not right for every program. If standalone assistive technology serves you well, we will tell you.

Who does what

Operational ownership, privacy, and governance

Your organization owns

  • Staffing and supervision
  • Policies and support decisions
  • Response operations, including who handles each alert and how

GMA provides

  • Technology and equipment
  • Configuration for each person and site
  • Training and ongoing support
  • Emergency preparedness planning with our emergency response and preparedness experts and clinicians

GMA does not run a response call center for your organization and does not replace your workforce.

Paying for technology

Funding, purchasing, and contracting

For agencies and payers, see agencies, payers, and community programs.

  • Purchasing and contractingThe most common route for program-level work. Private pay or other payer pathways may apply case by case.
  • Waivers and other payersTechnology for an individual may be funded through a waiver or other payer, depending on eligibility and authorization. GMA is an approved provider for certain waiver programs; see the coverage map.
  • RFPs and teamingGray Matters Alliance, LLC is registered in SAM.gov. Preparing an RFP, solicitation, grant, or teaming opportunity? Send it to us.

Approved provider status does not mean any person or program will be found eligible, authorized, covered, or reimbursed. The funding source decides. Current status is on the coverage map on our About page.

Questions from organizational leaders

Can we start with a small program or pilot?

Yes. A defined pilot is often a sensible first step. It might be a small group who choose to take part, one or two sites, and clear questions to answer. Your team gains experience in its own operations before any wider decision.

Can GMA work across multiple locations?

Yes. GMA serves organizations nationwide. CompassCare Command Center can support multi-person, multi-location workflows depending on configuration. We plan setup, training, and support around each site.

Does GMA monitor our participants or respond to alerts for us?

No. We supply and support the technology; your staff receive and act on alerts. Your organization decides who gets each alert and what happens next, and we help configure routing to match your procedures.

What can our security reviewers request?

Security, governance, and procurement assurance materials, requested through the organizational contact form. The MyCompass security overview is a good first read, and we answer follow-up questions directly.

Do we have to use MyCompass to work with GMA?

No. GMA provides a wide range of assistive technology, enabling technology, equipment, and services. MyCompass is one option where it fits.

How does GMA support staff adoption?

We train leaders, supervisors, and direct support staff. We also plan refreshers and follow-up, since turnover and shift schedules affect adoption.
